A five-minute self-read for people who are done waiting
The Market-Ready Scorecard
Eight things are true of every candidate who runs a fast, confident search. Score yourself honestly on each. You'll get a number out of 32, what it means, and exactly which pieces need finishing before the market takes you seriously.
1 · Resume: the six-second read
A recruiter decides in the top third whether to keep reading. The top of the page has to make your case: what you're excellent at, the problems you solve, and why a team wants you, in your target role's language.
2 · LinkedIn: can they find you?
Recruiters search terms, not potential. Your headline either carries your value proposition in their search language or you don't exist.
3 · Tell Me About Yourself
The one question you can always predict, and it isn't a career recap. Lead with a 30-second read on your unique value, delivered with presence, then one proof you delivered it and why you fit this seat. 60 to 90 seconds, then hand it back.
4 · The story bank
Interviews are won by a few stories of real business impact, told clearly, with you owning what you drove. The room remembers the moment you changed an outcome.
5 · Target list & positioning
Spray-and-pray burns the market and your morale. Market-ready means a named list and a one-line answer to "why you, for them."
6 · The outreach system
Most offers come through people, not portals. Warm paths first, give before you ask, and a cadence that runs even in a bad week.
7 · Interview reps
Nobody performs a thing well the first time they do it out loud. Reps with feedback are the difference between knowing your stories and landing them.
8 · Cadence & momentum
A search run in guilt-bursts takes twice as long and feels ten times worse. Market-ready people run the search like a product: pipeline, weekly review, recovery built in.

Answer all eight to see where you stand.
27-32 · Market-ready. You don't need more prep, you need at-bats. Go hunt.
19-26 · Close. The package needs finishing, not rethinking. A focused push gets you there.
10-18 · The gap is real, and it's finishable. This is exactly what one concentrated weekend of work closes.
0-9 · Start with strategy, not applications. Applying more from here burns your target market. Build the foundation first.
